Life in Afghanistan and an unplanned
flight to freedom - Part 2
World of Dreams
In June of 1979, we left our homeland
city because of war. We moved in with our eldest aunt in Kabul,
the capital city. It is a big city with narrow streets.
The streets are always crowded, the weather is polluted and houses are
built very close to each other, which is quite opposite of what
our homeland place
looked like. I was three when started going to kindergarten. It was really
nice of my aunt and her family to enable my parents to enroll me in kindergarten,
because the fee for the kindergarten was so high that not everyone could
afford it, especially a family like us that just started living in the
city and did not have enough income.
The kindergarten years were
the fun days
of my life, or probably the days that have a special place in my life.
